Please let me introduce myself. My name is Jenny. I live in West Seattle and I am a single parent of a 5 year old little girl, Olivia, who is hard of hearing, and a son Niko who is 10. My daughter has recently been implanted with a cochlear implant. Although Olivia is very verbal, our main way of communication is Signed Exact English.
Raising a child who is hard of hearing has given me unique firsthand knowledge of a child's wants and needs on a daily basis. Olivia exhibits many frustrations because of her hearing loss. The patience that is required from me, the parent, is like none other. Since my daughter was born, my life has changed in ways that I would never have imagined. It has changed in ways that only parents of a child who is deaf or hard of hearing would ever understand.
I am a stay at home mother, looking for as way to continue to stay home and care for my children. I am wondering if you know of anyone who has a child who is deaf or hard of hearing and is looking for that special someone to help with childcare. If so, would you be willing to provide my contact information to them?
I can be reached by Email - firstname.lastname@example.org or by telephone at (206) 933-7477.
